BREAST REDUCTION (MAMMAPLASTY)

Breast size is a common concern for many women, especially as they age and experience sagging. This condition can cause a number of problems, including neck and back pain, poor posture, skin problems such as eczema under the breast folds, difficulty finding clothes that fit properly, and discomfort with one's appearance.

Before the surgery, women under 40 years old undergo breast ultrasound examination, while those over 40 undergo mammography.

There are many techniques available for breast reduction surgery, and the technique chosen is tailored to each patient. Pre-operative planning involves creating diagrams of the intended procedure. The surgical incision is typically a reverse T-shape, similar to an anchor or a ship's anchor.

During breast reduction surgery, the nipple is repositioned to its proper location and breast tissue is reduced. The removed breast tissue is sent for pathological examination.

Some of the milk glands are preserved during the surgery to protect a woman's ability to breastfeed. Techniques that preserve nipple sensation can increase patient comfort after the surgery. Breast reduction surgery can also be safely performed on women with virgin hypertrophy, or abnormally large breasts in women who have never been pregnant or lactated. However, it is normal for some breast tissue growth to occur after pregnancy in these patients.
