Abdominoplasty is a surgical procedure performed to remove sagging tissues in the abdominal area caused by excessive weight gain and loss or repeated pregnancies. During this procedure, the separation of the abdominal muscles in the midline (rectus diastasis) is also repaired, and the position of the belly button is readjusted. The result is a flatter abdomen without sagging tissues. Liposuction may also be combined with abdominoplasty to reduce excess fat particularly in the side areas of the abdomen, creating an hourglass figure. The incision is placed in the bikini area and its length may vary depending on the amount of sagging tissues in the abdominal area. Recommended postoperative care can minimize the visibility of the incision.

In some patients, there may only be excess skin and tissue in the lower abdominal area. In such cases, a mini abdominoplasty may be performed to remove the excess skin with a shorter incision, without relocating the belly button. This procedure is particularly preferred for patients with weak abdominal muscles and sagging skin after a previous cesarean section surgery.

Yes, there will be scars at the incision sites, but there are ways to minimize them. Additionally, the incisions are usually planned to be within the bikini line.
